You may remember my contacting you about tickets to Sylvia for Columbine High School for last Thursday's performance. I just wanted to let you know what a smash success it was and hoped you might pass the word along to the director, cast, and crew.

The class I brought is called ACE (Alternative Co-operative Education), and it is made up of kids who have been identified as at-risk. They generally do not like school or literature, most have never been to a live theatre performance, and a number of them were very grumpy about being made to dress up and go to a play at night. On the bus back home, they were unanimously begging to go to another play. I just finished grading their reviews, and every one of them was gushing with praise. They were particularly amazed at Mr. Cullum's ability to portray three different and distinct characters, and half the boys are madly in love with Ms Hines. They were captivated by every actor. They were also impressed by the way the small space was used.

In the past, I have taken my ACE classes to the DCPA, so the Town Hall Arts Center was a first for me. I am always careful to choose a play I know will shake up kids' expectations of "theatre," so I can't guarantee that we'll always choose the Arts Center, but it's certainly on my radar.

My husband and I saw Sylvia a few years back at a small theater in Denver and laughed until we cried. We were delighted to have an opportunity to revisit that delightful production. Last night's performance was a dissapointment. You apparently believe only left leaning people who use gratuitus profanity enjoy the theater. That's not so. I have two dogs and have never heard either one say "f*** or goddamit".

Admin reply: We are sorry you were disturbed. 'Sylvia' was performed here as written in the script by A.R. Gurney. Why not change it? Because the licensing agreement tells us not to. Apparently the theater where you saw it before chose to risk their license being pulled.

I CAN NOT STATE ENOUGH HOW UNIMPRESSED AND DISAPPOINTED I WAS WITH THE PRINCIPLE CHARACTERS IN THIS SHOW. THIS SHOW OBVIOUSLY WAS CASTED BY LOOKS AND NOT BY TALENT.
DANNY AND SANDY WERE BOTH DREADFUL! Sure,THEY HAD GOOD SINGING VOICES, BUT THE CHEMISTRY WAS NOT THERE. THEY SEEMED UNCOMFORTABLE AND AKWARD. THEY DEFFINATELY DID NOT ''GO TOGETHER''. RIZZOS ACTING DRUG ON AND WAS NOT BITCHY ENOUGH. AGAIN, GOOD VOICE, BAD CHARACTERIZATION. WHEN DID THE CHARACTER OF KENICKIE TURN INTO FONZIE? AND DON't EVEN GET ME STARTED ON ROGERS OVERACTING. THE ONLY PRINCIPLE CHARACTERS THAT STOOD OUT AND WERE MEMORABLE WERE DOODY AND MARTY. VERY SAD, ISN't IT?

That aside, Teen Angel was great, as was Vince Vontane, and Miss Lynch,, Euguene was hysterical, and Patty was adorable, and the Ensemble kids did a great job as well.

OVERALL IT WAS A GOOD SHOW, AND PUT TOGETHER WELL, BUT A BIG TIME YIKes! On THE LEADS.

I DON't KNOW WHAT NICK SUGAR WAS THINKING. I DEFFINATELY WON't BE SEEING IT AGAIN.

I highly disagree with Stan Guzman in many ways. But agree in some.
The sets were wonderful as well as the props lighting and music.
Danny did not seem too flamboyant, and his singing voice blew me away, as did teen angel, Vince Fontaine, Rizzo, Marty, Sandy, and Doody. Kenickie wasn't as bad as Stan Guzman lead us to believe. His performance was phenominal. This rendition of Greased Lightning was deffinately the best performance I've ever seen. I thought it was even more creative choreography-wise than broadway. Great ensemble of backup dancers for that song, too! Wow! I only wish they did a little more with the car, other than that, wow! I was also very impressed with the Ensemble crew (Patty Cha Cha Eugene Brenda Lee and Jared) what a great effort they pulled! I do agree that the dancing with ensemble stood out more than the principle characters, however everyone stood out in their own special way. This was also one of the best Rizzo Teen Angel Vince Fontaine and Miss Lynch I've seen. All very memorable. Roger was well done, but not the best I've seen, as he had some word jumble this performance. Sonny wasn't very memorable either, but he doesn't have his own song, which he should, it doesn't seem fair to the actor. Raining on prom night sounded great with the girls doing 2 parts. Hand Jive was great choreography and I loved how each character had their 'moment' in the spotlight, including the Ensemble! The director did a great job of including EVERYONE when necissary, making everyone noticeable at times. Beauty school dropout was breathtaking, obviously. As was Vince's little performance during his song. Every single girl (Rizzo Marty Jan Frenchie) did a great job of portraying their character and it was all so great to watch and very believable! I thought the little on the side fued between Eugene and Jared (who I assume is the Rydell bully) was very cute and original. Every single cast member had their own moment to
shine, which is wonderful to see. Curtain call was very entertaining as well! I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars and I will deffinately be back! This show should deffinately be advertised on the News! Lets fill all those seats! Congrats, CAST OF GREASE! You did it!

Just saw Grease...here is my breakdown and review of the show:
OVERALL it had great music arrangement, great direction, great choreography, sets, props, and lighting.
Danny: Beautiful voice; acting was too flamboyant for the role of Danny, it just was hard to accept him as the role.
Sandy: Not impressed. Ok voice at times, weak acting skills.
Rizzo: Excellent. Broadway material
Kenickie: Ok at times, not too impressive
Marty: Very entertaining and good character acting
Sonny/Roger/Doody: Nothing special about roger and sonny, Doody however gave a very memorable performance
Frenchie/Jan: Fine, nothing too bad
Miss Lynch: Excellent. Show stealer
Teen Angel: BROADWAY BROADWAY BROADWAY
Vince: Excellent performance very good stage presence
Patty: Perfect! Cute and cuddly actress, adorable
Eugene: nothing too special, funny at times, predictable
Ensemble:great little crew! Fun and entertaining for what little they had! The man with the guitar was quite the dancer! Cha cha was very funny and Brenda Lee had a great singing voice,

GREAT SHOW, GANG! I'll deffinately see it again, I just wish I was more impressed with the leads and not more impressed with the Ensemble. Break a leg!

My daughter and I recently attended "Oklahoma." I cannot say enough about the production. You all brought a whole new level of depth to this “old show” for me personally. Your casting was impeccable. Ryan Buehler provided an amazing, tormented performance. Elisa Spencer put a twist on Laurey that I was not expecting, and Seth Caikowski was simply dashing. Michael Emmitt

topped the movie version of Ali by leaps and bounds. The dancing was joyous and so well done. We are new to your company and mostly came as my six year old daughter has fallen in love with the genre of musicals. However, this will not be our last! I NEVER comment on performances, but felt compelled to convey to your company how rich your work was and just how impressed I was with this production. Bravo! I know many of your cast members will be onto bigger stages soon, but hope to catch them in even more productions on their certain rise to fame.
